Kevin Smith is in Call of Duty now

Get ready to go shnickty shnickty shnoine on some naga naga n00bs. Kevin Smith — creator of Mallrats and patron saint of the Unfunny Nerd Tangent podcast — makes a guest appearance in the latest downloadable content pack for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare.

I’ve never played or even given a shit about Call of Duty, but I did a double-take when I saw Silent Bob’s signature No. 37 hockey jersey in a TV spot for Rave in the Redwoods, a new story for the game’s zombies mode, which is all part of the Sabotage DLC pack released in January. There’s a lot going on in this game.

In Redwoods alone, you’ll dress in neon and get high around a campfire before going savage on a horde of zombies. Only ’90s kids will appreciate the Crystal Method’s “Busy Child” in the trailer. You encounter Smith cowering in a heavily fortified cabin on his own island. From the looks of things, Fatman eventually picks up a machine gun and joins the fight.

Say what you will about Smith’s creative output these days — we love the fact that he’s a selling point for one of the biggest video-game franchises ever.

Fun fact: I own a jersey for the Monroeville Zombies, the made-up hockey team Seth Rogen and Jeff Anderson played for in Smith’s Zack and Miri Make a Porno. And if you’d like to know Smith’s real-life zombie survival plans, listen to our Walking Dead episode. Here’s a hint: He can take on 36 zombies IN A ROW.

Snoogans.
